Real Skills Plus CAMHS is a competency framework that describes the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that a practitioner needs in order to work with infants, children and young people that have moderate to severe mental health and/or alcohol or other drug (AOD) difficulties, their whanau and their community.
The new revised version (Real Skills Plus ICAMHS/AOD, 2019) includes a primary level relevant to the primary level workforce. The Real Skills Plus tool will identify areas for workforce development both for individuals and teams and plan service delivery.

Real Skills Plus ICAMH/AOD complements and adds to existing frameworks, including:
- Let's get real: A framework describing the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to deliver effective mental health and addiction services. It provides a foundation for all of the competency frameworks relevant to all people working in the mental health and addictions sector.
- Te Whare o Tiki: A framework describing the knowledge and skills required by the mental health and addiction workforce to be able to effectively respond to the needs of people with co-existing problems and their family/whānau.
- Real Skills Plus Seitapu: A framework describing the essential and desirable knowledge, skills and attitudes to engage with Pasifika peoples.
- Takarangi Competency Framework (Matua Raki, 2009). The Takarangi competency provides a pathway to develop cultural competence, enhance cultural fluency, analyse workforce needs relating to Māori responsiveness and monitor quality assurance.
On completion of the four courses, Werry Workforce Whāraurau Accreditation can be gained by completing a certification quiz. This equates to achieving a level of knowledge equivalent to the Werry Workforce Whāraurau Primary Level of Real Skills Plus that can be used for performance reviews and job applications.
